If we don’t act now, it will be developed — and lost forever.

Taking advantage of an aggressive state law, an Orange County developer is proposing a high-density, high-profit, 98-unit project on the 22-acre tract of land next to historic Tahquitz Canyon.

This previously protected area is home to bighorn sheep, bobcats, and other critical species. It’s an essential part of our vulnerable desert ecosystem.

Working with Oswit Land Trust, we’re committed to raising awareness, engaging public officials, and pursuing all available means to protect the land, the animals, and the peaceful lifestyle we all cherish in Palm Springs.

WHAT’S AT STAKE

If this wildlife corridor is lost, many species, including the endangered Peninsular Bighorn Sheep, will be displaced…with devastating consequences.

Beyond the devastating effect on our animal population, the scale of this project would result in a broad range of distressing issues, from air pollution to traffic congestion to strain on local infrastructure. The many years of construction noise and vibration alone would take a huge toll on both animals and humans.

THE PLAN

Two Phases. One Goal: Preservation.

Phase 1. Stop Development

With the help of a team of lawyers and specialized consultants, we are challenging development of this fragile land from every angle.

Phase 2. Buy and Protect the Land

Our ultimate goal is to purchase the 22-acre parcel and transfer it to Oswit Land Trust for permanent conservation.
